The idea of carrying out the project “Democracy and EU” started realizing how difficult is to make young people aware of how the EU institutions work or how the EU is present and influences their daily life.
We have thought that, in order to combat Euroscepticism, it’s necessary to make young people aware of the advantages of belonging to the EU.
Through this project we want to attract the special attention of young people by giving them the tools to understand the advantages of being part of the EU and to avoid fake news (83% of Europeans believe in fake news), spread mainly by social media. Indeed, with the help of social media, national and anti-EU parties can easily introduce propaganda against the EU, weakening its structure and thus causing problems for democracy in their own country.
The project plans to host in Treviso (Italy) 25 young people belonging to the participating organizations (plus a facilitator) for 5 days of activity (plus 2 travel days).
All activities will take place through a non-formal education methodology encouraging the active participation of young people with the help of moderators and experts.
