The “Inside&Outside the EU” Erasmus+ project responds to the need and request of young people to be true protagonists of a process of designing, creating, implementing and evaluating activities through which to express their ideas and, with an active dedication, contribute to improvement of the society around them.
This project represents a further step in a long journey undertaken by young people who, thanks to participation in international mobility (youth exchanges, projects for youth workers) and national activities (awareness raising activities in schools, participation in the EP campaign “This Time I’m Voting”, participation to local committees), have made the decision to create a new experience together with the participating organizations that directly involves them, creating innovative spaces and tools for aggregation and democratic participation.
This can be achieved with this youth participation project since it aims to support young people to:
- Learn: by encouraging their empowerment and stimulating them to inform themselves autonomously and responsibly about the EU and about issues related to democracy. We also intend to support their learning by mobilizing young people and supporting their participation in decision-making processes at the local level and their presence in participatory bodies (associations, local committees, foundations, parties);
- Develop: enhancing transversal and digital skills through the use of IT platforms and tools useful to support participation and support correct information;
- Raise awareness: among peers of the common values of the EU (human rights, democracy, European integration) by connecting young people with associations with the aim of strengthening relationships and the exchange of experiences which are a fundamental resource for solidarity and future development of the European Union;
- Making their voices heard: empowering and supporting their ability to self-organize and influence decision-making processes at local, regional, national and transnational levels, helping to bring about positive changes in society. Our project is based on the idea of involving young people to create a series of actions that can then be replicated at the local level and whose activities are supported by the partner organizations even after its conclusion. Participants will analyse the context in which they live (their family, their neighbourhood, their city) and reflect on how belonging to democracies and, for those who are part of them, to the EU, affects their lives on a daily basis, shaping not only its own space but also that of the neighbouring countries.
The project includes 3 mobility. In addition to mobilities, online meetings and local activities are planned: they will be used both to prepare the next mobility and to plan the dissemination activities of the results obtained by the mobility just ended.
Each mobility involves involving 4 young people between 18 and 30 years old for each country involved (Albania, Italy, Lebanon, Poland, Spain, Ukraine), for a total of 24 young people for each mobility.
