“Diversity in Action: United in Sport” is an Erasmus+ youth exchange project that uses sport as a tool to promote inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunities across Europe.
Inspired by European and national policies such as the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and Portugal’s National Strategy for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, the project aims to empower young people at risk of social exclusion by developing their social, cognitive, and leadership skills. Through a non-formal, personalised, and adaptable approach, the project targets specific groups — including young people with disabilities or from vulnerable backgrounds — and promotes physical and mental well-being, critical thinking, communication, and active community engagement.
The project was designed based on a thorough needs analysis and emphasises the active participation of young people, ensuring that the activities are relevant and youth-centered. Supported by an international consortium led by CCD Estrela do Zêzere, the initiative includes thematic modules, educational sports activities, storytelling, and the creation of sustainable community-based projects. Through sport, participants not only acquire transferable skills for their personal and professional lives but also become changemakers within their communities, fostering a more cohesive, equal, and resilient Europe in the face of today’s social challenges.
