The project “Video making for the YOUTH” is inspired by the needs of youth workers to improve their digital skills in order to support the actions of their organisations in the field of education and support for youth. Youth work plays an important role in improving social inclusion and promoting virtuous behaviour among young people. The EU aims to strengthen green policies among the population also leveraging the education of the new generations for whom the reference points from the educational point of view are constituted by educational institutions (schools, universities, etc.), based mainly on formal education methodologies, by families and by the world of the third sector, based instead on non-formal education, of which youth workers are part. In light of this situation, it becomes essential to provide youth workers with the digital tools that are most effective and direct to support their work, to raise awareness among the youngest sections of society about green policies at national and European level.

In fact, the current European Green Deal aims to tackle climate change through huge investments in decarbonisation, to create millions of “green jobs” and above all to encourage environmentally sustainable behaviour by the population. In light of this last aspect, the project aims to provide youth workers with the knowledge and professional skills necessary for associations to ensure that environmentally responsible behaviour and good environmentally sustainable practices are encouraged among young people.

The project therefore has two main objectives: the first is to improve the skills of youth workers from a professional point of view through the training course of this project focused on video making, the other is to carry out these training experiences on a theme that is central to EU policies, such as environmental protection with the aim of raising awareness among young people to the use of responsible behaviour.

In fact, the project will strengthen the ability of youth workers to develop new digital products capable of effectively conveying positive messages among young people, also facilitating the work of associations in educating and promoting virtuous behaviour.

In this case, the theme of mobility, i.e. that of improving the professional skills of youth workers, will be closely linked to the environmental issue and the promotion of environmentally sustainable behaviour and the protection and defence of the environment. In fact, the course will be the tool to promote EU policies and in particular those related to the Green Deal. The project will also intercept some Youth Goals (“Connecting EU with Youth”, “Sustainable Green Europe”, “Youth Organisations & European Programmes”) and will also be the opportunity to promote the territory of the city of Treviso. We chose Treviso as venue of the project since it won the European Green Leaf Award, the prize that the Commission gives to cities with less than 100.000 inhabitants that at European level stand out as pioneers with regard to the environmental issue, offering citizens a better quality of life and focusing their policies on the protection of air quality, water, safeguarding biodiversity, creating green areas, sustainable land use and creating a circular economy.

The project will also be an opportunity to publicise the good practices present in the territory and collaborate with the realities present in cities active in the world of environmental heritage protection.

The project therefore responds to the needs of partner organisations to strengthen the capacity of youth workers and the effectiveness of their educational actions through the use of digital tools like video ones.

It will also be an opportunity for associations to strengthen their experience and cooperation in European projects by improving their operational capacity and updating their offer in the field of non-formal education.
